I'm new to having an aPPO in repeater mode, but it's what I need to have a booth at the county fair and demonstrate wireless internet. No way to get a link directly from the main AP at the space available, but only a few hundred yards away I can get a usuable signal. So I put in an aPPO and tried it in repeater mode. I had trouble associating an aBO with it and then found out that the whole network had gone down when I tried it. I took the repeater offline and the main aPPO came right back to life.

I tried it slightly more methodically the next time and made sure at each step the network was working properly. I first put the aPPO in client/bridge mode and got some really good speed tests. I was doing fine at nearly the full speed of my T1, so I switched it into repeater mode and made sure that everyone was able to still surf, no problems. Everything was A-Okay. So I went to the area where my display would be and tried associating to the main AP through the repeater and it went silky smooth. Then I tried a few speed tests, the first two or three went well, but then it started slowing down and then came to a halt. And the whole network came to a halt as well. I had to unplug the repeater aPPO to get the network back on line. What am I doing wrong here?

How is this repeater bringing down the main AP???
