I suspect so.

Each time, the unit acted like there were program errors-it did not behave
as expected.   The first time, it refused to pass packets, though nothing
was obviously wrong.   The second time, the GUI would not respond.

I'm thinking the NVRAM (or whatever it is) is getting a few bits scrambled
while in transit, and doing a hard reset reloads it from the ROM.  Maybe I'm
all wet or something, but that's my take.
