I KNOW how to ground the system....they point is I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.  What I will probably do if I decide to use this product is cut a piece of stainless or aluminum plate to fit the bottom of the box and with a hole for the N bulkhead and the ethernet cable.  Then drill a hole in the middle for a 1/4-20 stainless bolt for a ground stud.  I'd replace the grommet for the cat5 with a compression clamp and bring DB cat5 directly into the box and attach the bonding strap to the 1/4-20 bolt.  The bolt stud sticking through the outside of the case would go to a tower or mast ground and would ground the radio end of the cat5 AND the antenna shield.

I've done something similar with a NEMA box and indoor SB and it works fine.

Simple solution, get a crimp on connector that can go around the N-connector, and crimp you ground wire to it..  then put your antenna N connector on.. You might need a nut to screew down to keep it snug.

Unacceptable design.  There MUST be a direct ground connection at the antenna connector.  This means I will be tearing the boxes apart and reengineering the ground connections before installing them.  NEVER-NEVER-NEVER force the EMP from a nearby strike to flow down the ground in the ethernet cable.  THE RADIO MUST BE GROUNDED TO A LOW IMPEDANCE SOURCE.

Where's the grounding stud on the case?

Hello ,

smartBridges will soon launch the airPoint XO series, its latest solution for Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWANs). The airPoint XO series has built-in bandwidth management capabilitiesallows flexible configurations and is a powerful tool for Wireless ISP installations. The airPoint XO series addresses four key areas that are of vital importance in any WWAN network: Subscriber Bandwidth Management, Advanced Networking Capabilities, Remote Infrastructure Management and Carrier-Class Reliability.

airPoint XO, the first product in this series is an access point with built-in subscriber bandwidth management, RADIUS client for access control and URL forwarding of the unauthorized users. This product is ideal for deploying large WISP networks and Public Access Hotspots.

airPoint XO2, the second product, is a dual-radio device that offers all the features of the airPoint XO, with added modular control of the individual radios  to enable various configurations.

The airPoint XO series provides a two-layered protection through the IEEE 802.3af compliant PoE Outdoor for regulatory compliant installations. The radios are supported by multiple Network Processing Elements to handle heavy network loads. These devices can be remotely configured, monitored upgraded, reset and even power cycled, thus allowing ease of maintenance.

We welcome your valuable feedback and suggestions.

Thanks.
