Try turning of VJ Compression and/or compression in your pppoe
profile. I seen routers that are not "powerful" enough to do vj
compression on them resulting in really REALLY crappy throughput (one
example of such router is the Speedstream's that tigerdirect was
selling for $6.95)

KS> Kevin,

KS> Look in Mikrotik under your PPPOE server & verifiy if the '' Only one
KS> session per host is check '' .

KS> if it is.....remove it.

KS> Instead, check it at your PPP profiles '' only one ''.

KS> That's what I did & it work.

KS> We use Linksys Cable/DSL routers for PPPoE login, much like
KS> you mention. We have an ABO on top of an office building and
KS> we are feeding the customers in the building with this one
KS> link. With the latest firmware it wouldn't work, probably
KS> because MikroTik wont allow two PPPoE sessions from the same
KS> MAC address, but with the older (0.09.10) firmware it passes
KS> the MAC of each client and they are able to log in.

KS> Kevin,

KS> With my setup, I am putting routers at EVERY client with built-in
KS> PPPoE. This will allow a single login for each client, with DHCP behind it.

KS> With what you are saying below, does that mean that my setup will
KS> work?

KS> Thanks,

KS> I mentioned a few months ago that with the AirBridge

KS> firmware 0.09.10 (transparent bridge) I was able to get

KS> two PPPoE clients on the network behind it at the same

KS> time.

KS> I've now verified in a live environment that the latest

KS> firmware 0.01.07 does NOT allow multiple users of ANY

KS> kind to log in to a MikroTik box. While a customer was

KS> logged in and functioning with PPPoE, my laptop could not

KS> get a PPTP connection, and another customer with PPPoE

KS> couldn't get on either.

KS> I downgraded the firmware to 0.09.10 and everything started

KS> to work that way it's supposed to.

KS> Having said that, here's the problem I've been wrestling with

KS> for 3 months now.

KS> The Access Point is an ABI 4.5 miles away with good line-of-sight

KS> to the ABO with a 19db grid. I get 100% RSSI and 92-98% Signal

KS> Quality. When testing throughput from the switch up at the AP I get

KS> just over 2 megabit back to the NOC. When testing from behind this

KS> ABO I have never been able to get more than 700K, and it's currently

KS> getting 450-600K. I just can't seem to get this link to go any

KS> faster.

KS> I've tried,

KS> - A different radio

KS> - 3 different antennas (13db panel, 15db grid, 19db grid)

KS> - Changed the antenna cable

KS> - moved the antenna base and re-aimed the antenna

KS> Any suggestions?
