Hi, In order to achieve better performance and increase the throughput in the wireless link, sometimes following adjustments are required in the AP and CPE devices. Any one has the FIELD EXPERIENCE with these 2 adjustments? Once you adjusted these values, did you get any positive improvements in the performance? Probably WISP experts might know much more about. I would like to know about your field experience. I know that we need to try with various values and it may be varies between one place to another. But I really want to know your field experience and what circumstances you have done the changes. Is it really helped or not? The following information is provided for the purpose of understanding the two values. Fragmentation threshold adjustment is required to increase the reliability of frame transmissions. This value determines the size at which packets are fragmented. It means sending the packet as several pieces instead of one block. Normally, the sB radios default value is 2346. This default setting will work most of the time and no doubt about it. But some times when we deal with higher interference, we need to lower down the values to improve efficiency in the packet transmission which avoids the packet loss. The following link will give more information on this.http://www.80211-planet.com/tutorials/article.php/1468331 RTS/CTS adjustment is required to minimize collisions among hidden node problems. This value determines the packet size at which the AP issues the request to send (RTS) before sending the packet. As I mentioned before, the default values will work most of the time. Sometimes, low RTS/CTS settings will improve the throughput where many client devices are associating with AP or where the CPEs are far away and can detect only the AP and not each other. This occurs when the users and access points are spread out throughout the facility and you are finding relatively higher number of re transmissions occurring on the wireless LAN.. http://www.80211-planet.com/tutorials/article.php/1445641
Any field experience and feedback much appreciated.
Thank you
