The broadcast PING will not clear the ARP table and it can be cleared or
resolved by resetting or power cycling the radios.

That wouldnt work.

It is the ARP table in the sB device that I am speaking of...not the
gateway/router ARP table.

I dont know if a PING to the broadcast address would refresh the sB
device?

If a client once in this state were to ping the broadcast address on the
network which forces the MAC of the PC to distribute around the network
cause the traffic to begin passing again?
I agree, it sounds very much like an ARP issue. Simple Monitor does a
broadcast to find the bridge I believe which could explain why you see
things working again after using Simple Monitor.

This has me thinking about ARP tables?

I had a client that was swapping the cable between several computers
(and
same STATIC IP). It would not pass traffic until her did a hard reboot.

Maybe these clients are doing the same?

Or Maybe the ARP table is corrupt?

Subject: Re: [smartBridges] Beta 1.0.08 locking up Ethernet anyone

I have just returned from a truck roll to a customer using a ABO with
1.08
firmware loaded. The apparant symptoms were that the unit stopped
passing
traffic from it's ethernet size, although it was still associated
perfectly
with the access point. The unit refused to pass any traffic until I
fired up
simple monitor, logged in and examined it - after that it worked
perfectly.
This is the second time I have seen this effect (the first time I
thought it
was fluke) on ABO units. The units just completely fail to pass traffic.
This customer has a 90% signal strength and a 95% signal quality. As
soon as
I had logged in, I changed my IP to that of my customer and internet
worked
perfectly. He reconnected his PC and all was well - But this problem is
curious and needs resolving. I have only a limited deployment of the
1.08
firmware, but it's stability seems questionable as this is the second
unit
that has failed (out of a total of 5).

Colin Watson.
