sac> Eje's at WISPCON. Saw him there yesterday --or rather, someone claiming to sac> be him. Personally, I think the guy was an imposter. He failed the one sac> true test: I asked him to pronounce his name and he GOT IT WRONG!!!
lol.. sac> Thankfully Bev (his wife) was there to correct him ;) roflmao.. sac> He had a bunch of Microtik toys there. Brad Belton (Belwave) was providing sac> backhaul using Redline equipment. Brad was bringing in 20mbps at the fiber sac> handoff into the building. By the time it got to the building in question, sac> they were getting about 10mbps (lost in the fiber???) From there it went sac> into an AirLock (sp?) bw controller and *supposedly* losing another sac> 5mbps!!! (Should'a heard Eje complain about it. He wanted them to use sac> Microtik). SB was taking the feed and providing it to everyone that cared sac> to tie into it. The rep there (Naveen?) said they had 200 units tied into sac> their 3 APs. I meandered by a network discovery/monitor booth (Intermap??) sac> and they were running a tool to map out the wireless network. It found sac> maybe 80 clients --I think. Maybe it was 200 total and 80 that tied on sac> just for that minute or so. Dunno. If there was 200 clients on 3 aps then it explains why it was so freaking slow. I tried a download and I got 16-25k download speeds. (NOT very impressed). Heck just the login sequence to the airlok system was slower then dailup. I doubt there was 200 units tied in there might been a total of 200 units that have associated at one time or another. But the system had big performance issues so far this year. Heck at first people couldn't even get online correctly. It wasn't first after I went over the aB's booth and grabbed one of their techs to bring to my booth and SHOW what happened that they could fix it. The squid server in the airlok system wouldn't allow me and others to browse the web (mind you I could get my e-mail and everything else just not surf). sac> Fun stuff. Lots of toys. Someone said Gloria Vester was there, and I sac> missed her (if that was you, sorry for missing you. Wanted to chat with sac> you). She was/is there I talked with her briefly. She will have to sharpen those elbows so that she can get to my booth so we can talk some more. We been slammed from about 8am until 6-7pm so far every day. Boy my throat is tired and my feet hurt but boy it's fun. Getting to talk with a lot of people. sac> Duty calls so I won't be able to go back for the remaining days. That is a shame barely got to speak to you. sac> Eje said he'll be here in Dallas till Saturday. Hmm.. Not sure where you got that from =) I'll be leaving Wed evening I WISH I could stay until Saturday tho.. That would be nice.. =) But as you say duty calls. Need to get back home and take care of orders and things.. =) For you people that are not there your missing out on our wispcon special.. Should have been/be here ;) (200mW CPE for $119) Best regards, Eje Gustafsson mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --- The Family Entertainment Network http://www.fament.com Phone : 620-231-7777 Fax : 620-231-4066 Online Store http://www.wisp-router.com - Your Full Time Professionals - -- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] ----------ANNOUNCEMENT---------- Don't forget to register for WISPCON IV http://www.wispcon.info/us/wispcon-iv/wispcon-iv.htm The PART-15.ORG smartBridges Discussion List To Join: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type subscribe smartBridges <yournickname> To Remove: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (in the body type unsubscribe smartBridges) Archives: http://archives.part-15.org
