I will be adding a repeater site to cover a
small populated area.
I am planning to use an APPO with an 18dB panel
to use as backhaul from my existing AP's and then into another APPO to use
as an access point for subscribers. The backhaul link APPO I plan to
put in client bridge mode and the other in normal access point mode.
Is this correct?
If the single APPO hooks up with the main tower
I will just run one APPO as a repeater. That would be the best thing
that could happen but I do not think I will get sufficient signal to do this
with an omni.
What happens to the ethernet port of a
repeater? Is it possible to run one (the backhaul) APPO as a
repeater, and the other an AP connected together via ethernet? Would
the repeater send the traffic from the AP back to the NOC?
Here are the 3 configs I am inquiring
about.
NOC -> APPO -> APPO(repeater) ->
Client bridges
NOC -> APPO -> APPO(client bridge) ->
APPO -> Client bridges
NOC -> APPO -> APPO(repeater) -> APPO
-> Client bridges
Would the 3rd scenario pass traffic and also
provide me with an additional repeater although pretty
directional?
Comments and suggestions appreciated. I
know the first reply I will get will be why I do not put in a 5.8 GHZ
backhaul. The number of potential subscribers does not cost justify
the $$$ for a dedicated backhaul. I plan to erect an additional tower
in that area next year and this scenario will be eliminated so it a
temporary solution. Need to get through the winter.
