Graybar sells Superior/Essex OSP cable. I use Essex part no. 04-001-54
(aluminum tape shield) or 04-001-55 (steel/bronze rodent shield). These are
1000 foot reels of Essex type BBDNE or BBDGE (G stands for Gopher ;)) CAT5E
4-pair 24 ga STP cable.

It's not the easiest cable to prepare for termination. I have used shielded
RJ-45 connectors (T8P8CSR or T8S8PC5) from L-Com with some success, but
would recommend 110 block style terminations if at all possible. PolyPhaser
makes a suitable surge protector with 110 block style connectors, model
IX-2H2DC48W. ITW Linx also makes a variety of excellent BEP devices. If you
can successfully terminate the cable with RJ-45's, the Motorola Canopy Surge
protector, model 300SS, is an economical UL approved building entrance
protection device. On a tower installation, I would be inclined to use a
protector at each end of the cable. One note: the Motorola 300SS shorts pins
4-5 together and pins 7-8 together. I don't know if that would affect
smartBridge device reset operations, but it has not otherwise affected
normal operation.
