In the old days, I set up a standby base station for the local fire department that when it was off lit  a 75w light bulb in the cabinet to prevent condensation, but I also had the chance to inspect it on a weekly basis so if the bulb burned out it was no big deal.
 
However, cabinet heaters can be had so cheaply these days there is really no reason to do this.  I would much prefer the reliability and peace of mind of a commercial solution from Hammond or Hoffman.....

Light bulb.....   Use 2 small one in parallele in case 1 goes dead.

Gateway Electronics is a surplus house that has stuff like that at a very reasonable price.  Digikey should have them new, as well.
