true, but when the AP receives an rts it responds with a cts which silences other radios within earshot of the AP - thats how it attempts to get round the hidden node problem. Thats OK as long as 1) remote clients can hear the cts properly and are not gushing forth louder than they can hear (if you see what I mean) and 2) the traffic is of length >rts threshold (adjustable), otherwise no rts/cts negotiation takes place at all - its quicker to chance a collision and retry on failure (esp on not very busy systems)
