Started looking at this drive from new earlier today.
smartmontools 5.38-3ubuntu3 (Ubuntu 10.04.1):-
no success in reading smart data.
5.39.1+svn3077-1ubuntu1 (Ubuntu 10.10):-
success only with "-T permissive -d sat"
Compiled 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu]:-
success with just "-d sat"
This drive wasn't in drivedb.h as of trunk r3217 so I added an entry
which included "-d sat" and have attached a diff. After this smartctl
-a /dev/sdb worked and I have attached as per the faq request.
But it still shows as "Not in smartctl database", yet now show up with:-
smartctl -P showall !
Hope this helps someone and I am happy to do any further testing if
required.
