The ATA level of the drive does not matter for SMART. The SMART Feature
Set was introduced in ATA-3 (1997), the last enhancements were added in
ATA-6 (2002). SMART is still part of ATA-8 and all modern ATA-8 drives
support it.

There was recently a smartctl output for a MK5065GSX on this list. This
series is now in drive database.

As far as I can see from the kernel messages in your last posts the
drives are connected via a JMicron USB bridge.

Please retry with '-d usbjmicron' option.

We already support some features added in ATA-8: '-l scttemp' and '-l
scterc'

Please send such support requests to the smartmontools-support list, the
database list is for database submissions only.
