I created a GPT and a partition on the bare drive, filled it with data, then when I put the drive in the enclosure found that my partition table was gone. I used TestDisk from CGSecurity to locate the ext4 partition, rebuilt the GPT (remember to overwrite the backup GPT, otherwise tools like parted think they're dealing with a corrupt *primary* GPT). Luckily, because the offset is 4K, my partition was still 4K-aligned. Do you happen to know what kind of bridge chips are typically found in Seagate enclosures? (Anything that could lead to a datasheet, or maybe even a driver.) I would like to be able to toggle the sector offset if possible, and the enclosure also has some LEDs on the front (hanging off some GPIOs I'm guessing) that might be fun to play with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
