"Unknown USB Bridge" means that its ID is missing in the drive database and therefore the '-d TYPE' option cannot be auto-detected. You need to specify the correct -d option for the pass-through protocol provided by this bridge (if any). Please read: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/smartmontools/wiki/USB If a -d option works, then we could add the ID to drive database. If not, we could only add the ID as 'unsupported' Note that only some CF cards actually support (ATA-)SMART.
