I have an old binary tarball at:
http://us-east.manta.joyent.com/nahamu/public/smartos/smartos-opt-apcupsd.tar.gz

The contents must be unpacked to live at /opt/apcupsd.
I never got around to making an SMF manifest for the service part and I had to run a command to get it see my UPS over USB:
update_drv -a -i '"usbif51d,class3"' ugen
(It's possible you need to run that at every boot. I reboot so infrequently that I forget...)

Generally seems to work with my UPS:
[root@smartos ~]# /opt/apcupsd/sbin/apcupsd
[root@smartos ~]# /opt/apcupsd/sbin/apcaccess | egrep '(VERSION|MODEL|CABLE|DRIVER|STATUS|TIMELEFT)'
VERSION : 3.14.10 (13 September 2011) sun
CABLE : USB Cable
DRIVER : USB UPS Driver
MODEL : Back-UPS RS 1500G
STATUS : ONLINE
TIMELEFT : 73.7 Minutes

Probably suitable for home use but for production you probably want to figure out how to build it yourself...

I'm curious if anyone has apcupsd working on SmartOS? I'd like to see if there's a compiled version floating around out there.

Thanks,
