running into the issue with the dump zvol.
I would try booting in noinstall mode and see if you can import the
zones pool manually.
If you destroy and recreate the dump zvol and the problem goes away you
can be pretty confident that's what it was...

The solution is exactly what you did: destroy and recreate the dump
