You can see/edit them under windows.
Mac does not see them but does apply/inherit them.

e.g. all my users have access to all shares. They can't mount the ones were they don't have at least read to the files via acl.

I have sticky groups set so I delegate all my permissions based on groups. So far for me it works fine.

Do any of your local changes (zfsacl etc) mean you can see and edit
ACLs in OS X? In Finder, or something else?
