The way that I do it is to assign the static IP in the router for the ethernet
MAC address. For example, I might tell the router to give 28:cf:e9:14:81:2d the
address of 192.168.1.32 every time.

John

One bug that has stumped me is joyent/illumos-joyent#48 "unicorn

good trace info, but using

I haven't reproduced the issue.

jerry, pmooney and team have made great progress on rounding out linux
network api compatibility. If you can retest any related scenarios
that have previously failed or test your web application stacks, etc
that would be appreciated.

Some related jira and github issues resolved:
joyent/illumos-joyent#48 unicorn doesn't work with lx zones
joyent/smartos-live#432 lx zone networking is incomplete
OS-4138 lxbrand socket ioctls should be flexible about address family
  OS-4238 lxbrand want SIOCADDRT ioctl

Some related open issues:
  OS-4238 lxbrand want SIOCADDRT ioctl
OS-4275 lxbrand ansible unable to query network facts

Any other issues that I overlooked that are impacting you?

Any interesting scenarios we need to investigate?

Thank you,

I would like to pick up this topic as I'm quite interested in getting
networking done in my lx-branded zone. Here are the platform details:

*  SmartOS: joyent_20150528T153328Z
 LX zone: lx-debian-7 (a781a350-07f4-11e5-9372-5f2886027fbc)

What I would like to establish is static IP and specific, static routing
in the lx branded zone. Is that possible at current state? If so, how
one does that?

I was trying to get it going using tools/apps on the OS itself, but
without luck. I also tried to set static routing in the *.json file, but
it was no-go either.

All the best
-Filip
