Following the instructions here,

https://wiki.smartos.org/display/DOC/Building+SmartOS+on+SmartOS

I performed the bootstrap just fine, then I went to build and splattered on my
nose all over the place:

==> Building Illumos (20150930T181121Z)
Build type   is  non-DEBUG
WARNING: invalid value for MULTI_PROTO (); setting to "no".
RELEASE      is
VERSION      is joyent_20150930T181121Z
RELEASE_DATE is September 2015

The top-level 'setup' target is available to build headers and tools.

Using /opt/local/bin/tcsh as shell.
Bad : modifier in $ (/).
Makefile:246: recipe for target '0-illumos-stamp' failed
gmake: *** [0-illumos-stamp] Error 1

My shell is obviously tcsh; I didn't set it to bash because nothing in the
above instructions said I had to have bash for shell.

Is bash mandatory, and this is intentional, or is this a bug?
