I've been working on a vagrant plugin for managing zones in a vagrant box
composed of a tweaked global zone

https://github.com/sax/vagrant-smartos-zones

There are fixes in Vagrant to detect SmartOS, but I don't think they're in
a released version yet. I've wrapped up those changes into another plugin
in the meanwhile,
https://github.com/sax/vagrant-smartos-guest

Boxes are here:
https://vagrantcloud.com/livinginthepast

The plugin will download a platform image iso into the vagrant home
directory. I've only tested it on VirtualBox on a Mac, so this may not suit
your purposes. Also, it's still a work in progress... networking out of the
local zone isn't correct. Only a single local zone per box at the moment.

vagrant ssh -- gets you into the global zone as user vagrant
vagrant zones --help
vagrant zlogin -- gets you into your local zone
