Yes, obviously letting users play with HPETs can have system-wide effects, my question was different though (perhaps my wording wasn't the best). I was wondering how come it's enabled for KVM instances; and if it's enabled for KVM instances what's the point in disallowing it for the joyent brand.
I got my answer in the meantime; even if it's enabled for KVM instances, users can't directly manipulate system resources because QEMU has its own cyclics implementation which minimises the number of high resolution timers in the system. -- Aram Hăvărneanu ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
