SmartOS uses pooled storage, so there's no concept of an instance being
on one disk or another.  You can add disks to the storage pool using
zpool(1m).  In general, you need to add storage in units of the same
vdev topology as the existing vdevs; in your case, that would mean you'd
be building a simple stripe.  You'd have no redundancy.  You could
instead look into building a mirror with the 'attach' subcommand; you
would then need to expand in units of 2 disks going forward, building a
RAID-10-like topology.
