If you want to try this (I don't know if it will help, since it's
dependent on the driver itself), you can follow the basic template
sketched out at
http://dtrace.org/blogs/wesolows/2013/12/28/anonymous-tracing-on-smartos/.
Forget all the DTrace stuff and focus on how we get driver.conf into the
system.  This takes effect before any userland process starts, so it
should work with any driver.
