I'd suggest using the Intel I350 if you're looking for a 4 x 1 GbE. If
you need 10 GbE, I'd instead look at the Intel x520 or x540 depending on

While that was previously the case, that is no longer true. Jumbo frame
support is built into vmadm and nictagadm. See
http://wiki.smartos.org/display/DOC/Managing+NICs#ManagingNICs-ModifyingtheMTU
for more information.
