Hi,
I got some problems using flowadm on a SmartOS 20140515T211957Z on live
system hardware with emulex oce 10GbE
and on a vm with Vmware fusion with 20140807T193112Z:
I want enforce a bandwith limit using the followin commands.
flowadm add-flow -z ... -l net0 -p maxbw=10M -a local_ip=.... demo_inet0
What I expect to see is, to limit the bandwith to 10 Mbit/s.
What I see is totally strange/erratic behaviour:
1.)When setting a bandwidth for a vnic in a zone below 13M
I can't even ping the IP of the interface in the zone (timeout).
I am not able to download a file, the download does not start:
curl http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/200MB.zip >/dev/null
(Both works without the bandwitdh limit as above).
2.)If setting the bandwidth higher then 13M, the results for a download
are far below the configuredvalues:
wget http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/200MB.zip
On live system:
Setting maxbw=30M:
407KByte/s
Without flowadm:
5.24MByte/s
3.) If setting the bandwith with
dladm set-linkprop -z ... -p maxbw=10M inet0
the same problems occur.
4.) On a system with 20120809T221258Z in a VMware Esx setting maxbw=8M
works as expected
on multiple zones.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Is this problem known ?
