Hey Tim, Thanks for writing all that up. One thing I would add is that instead of manually editing the config file to add the etherstub, you could run the nictagadm(1M) command. You'd want something of the form nictagadm add -l stub0. That should also get you out of the need to run sysinfo -u, if I recall correctly.
