We (and by we I mean mostly Robert) did some testing with E1 Haswell
systems previously.  The memory controller should not be a factor, but I
cannot speak to the E3 nor to that board specifically.

I've had the PCIe variant of that controller and it works.  Don't know
for sure about their weird proprietary form factor one, but anything
that's just a plain 82599ES electrically wired up via PCIe should
generally be fine.

Always get an evaluation unit prior to placing a firm order.
