Probably a simple question - I'd just like to understand the process better
before I try it.

I have 3 SmartOS hosts running in one subnet. They currently boot from
individual USB sticks. I''m interested in moving them to PXE to make new
SmartOS releases simpler to implement.

Currently there is no DHCP server in that network because none is needed.
There are only a few servers and each server has a static IP.

Is the network that the PXE boot method uses to boot and load the OS into
memory typically the same network as will be used to manage the server?

In other words, if my current servers are 192.168.1.100, 101 and 102, and I
want to keep those addresses, do I need to change each host to PXE boot
from DHCP and use reservations to make sure that each server still gets its
original IP address? Or is the PXE boot network independent of the
management network and the server just boots from NIC #1 on some other IP
but is managed on NIC #2 connected to the "management" network?

Hopefully I'm explaining my question well enough. Thanks!
