Dan,

I am not sure how you constructed your image but if it booted on real HW or
in a VM, then it should boot in an lx zone (modulo any services which need
to be disabled because they don't work or don't make sense inside a zone).
If you are creating an image in some way that you've never actually tried
booting for real, then it's hard to know what you need. I would start from
a minimal install that runs fine inside a VM, then that tar it up and use
that as a starting point to install your lx zone.
