Hi, The simplest way is ton install pkgsrc in the GZ.
Works for me as I use ansible this way... I personnaly use the following method: # curl -s --insecure https://pkgsrc.joyent.com/packages/SmartOS/bootstrap/bootstrap-2014Q4-x86_64.tar.gz | tar -zxpf - -C / then you have pkgin in the GZ and you can install whatever tools are usefull for you.
