SmartOS is not a desktop operating system, and does not ship with the necessary drivers for graphics, audio, etc. As it is a live image model with the OS loaded into main memory, shipping those drivers would just be a waste of everyone's RAM. > At the bottom of the site https://pkgsrc.joyent.com/install-on-illumos/ > there's > a pkg about ffmpeg2 > so has anyone played mp3 under his keystroke? > If yes can someone suggest me how or how to enable the sound card ffmpeg2 is a utility for converting media formats rather than playing them, but there are plenty of other music players provided, e.g. xmms or rhythmbox, as well as a bunch of front-ends for mpd. I'd suggest running one of the other illumos distributions such as OpenIndiana or OmniOS, then installing pkgsrc as per the above instructions. The packages should work equally well on those distributions (as you can see from that page I've demonstrated a full desktop install on OmniOS), if not then it's a bug.
