Yes. Crosbow is usually very efficient.
Create etherstub and use its ID in "nic.*.nic_tag" JSON attribute.

1. dladm create-etherstub switch0
2. edit json, update nic section to include "nic_tag":"switch0".

You don't even need a physical NIC for this!
