I started working on a port[1] a while ago, but obviously it hasn't
been high enough on my list to actually get something to work.  Part
of what I was trying to decide was how far we would want to diverge
from the upstream, with the obvious caveat that divergence makes it
harder to stay in sync.

Who would be funded via the Kickstarter to actually do the work?
