The primary failure will be that some packages create users, and those operations will fail in the global zone, with undefined consequences. There will also be issues with any packages which create SMF instances or write special files to /etc (e.g. mozilla-rootcerts). Some packages may be ok with that, and others won't be. It really depends on what you install. If you're fine with things possibly breaking in undefined ways, then go ahead, it may work fine. I use it myself for a few packages. It's just not something we can support so please don't create any bug reports or ask for help with anything which breaks.
