I tried wackamole with an ETL system. I failed working on this miserably, and ended up using uCarp. Too bad carp won't work for you, it's remarkably simple to deal with.

One thing to note, as on the wiki page: https://wiki.smartos.org/display/DOC/High+Availability+with+Wackamole, there is another solution called 'vippy' which might be another reasonable alternative.

With carp (BSD Style) is not possible due to a number of reasons. This package works similarly? Or still allows to solve the task?
