Hm - I got a touch diverted as the OVA file doesn't uncompress correctly on
smartos (the vmdk unpacks as tiny).

On doing a conversion, the VM errors with a "Boot failed: not a bootable
disk". The only thing I notice is if I do

qemu-img info -f host_device
/dev/zvol/rdsk/zones/ca6b2aa1-5ca5-49be-f9e0-a1242bf469e7-disk0
it reports

file format: host_device
virtual size: 84G (90177536000 bytes)
disk size: 0

Which seems a touch suspicious
