Illumos -> SmartOS -> best of class virtualisation platform
Illumos ->Nexenta -> commercial enterprise grade storage with iSCSI
Illumos ->Openindiana -> open source flexible storage and GUI
Illumos ->Openindiana ->napp-it -> open source flexible storage and
GUI + very flexible and easy storage systems
You forgot about OmniTI's variant - OmniOS, which works remarkably well
with napp-it. Now, I've not used OI or Nexenta, but have had good luck
with OmniOS.

*Onderwerp:* [smartos-discuss] Can COMSTAR run in a user zone?
Hi,
We'd like to run a COMSTAR based storage virtualization solution on
SmartOS. The problem is that COMSTAR seems available only in GZ. In my
understanding, GZ seems the all resourdes of the entire machine and
can use all of them. However, we still allocate some VMs (of KVM,
native zone, or lx zone type) on the machine. So I'd like to cap the
resources for the storage virtualziaton service running in GZ. I guess
this won't work. Therefore I'd like to run the service in a UZ.
To achieve this, I plan to add each HDD disk to a UZ, and in the UZ
expose each disk using COMSTAR. Is that possible?
Your information will be apprecaited.
