Hi

We have some new hosts with 1.5T memory and this causes a zones/swap of 1.5T to be created. Is this necessary in the GZ ? Each VM gets its own swap so just not sure what would be running in the GZ that would end u using that swap ?

Thanks
Len

Hi Len,

Here's some output for example:

# vmadm list | wc -l
      32

# prstat -Z
ZONEID NPROC SWAP RSS MEMORY TIME CPU ZONE
27 2 1132M 1119M 1.5% 1742:33:1 2.0% af0237f4-21bb-4a33-aa72-346* 58 2 2137M 2122M 2.9% 129:18:19 0.9% d26a2119-ca34-4829-b5c1-7ee* 20 2 2143M 2129M 2.9% 117:25:39 0.3% 75bccf3b-822a-474c-837d-f16*
     0 83 689M 401M 0.4% 43:01:24 0.2% global

# swap -lh
swapfile dev swaplo blocks free
/dev/zvol/dsk/zones/swap 90,1 4K 72G 72G

# zfs list zones/swap
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
zones/swap 74.3G 209G 536M -

As can be seen the GZ doesn't need that much swap for itself - someone correct me if my findings are wrong.
