I haven't quite gotten to the bottom of this yet. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. When the system is up in this state, could you run: mdb -ke 'boot_ncpus/D; ncpus/D' This will help us start down the path of figuring out what's going on. It may be worth opening a bug on github.com/joyent/smartos-live/issues, so we can track that there.
