Name - it is not the name of the network card - is the name of the virtual interface, which is associated with the card through a bundle nic_tag - mac in not inmemory OS( like OmniOS, for example ) if you want - you can not create virtual interfaces and do this way: ipadm create-if nic_name ipadm create-addr -T static -a ip/24 nic_name in SmartOS - only option of permanent settings - throuth vnic. Accordingly, the name may be in the range of reasonable ( i mean not like MeGoTroNNetWork for example *) ) 2. If the additional doesn’t need an IP-address in the Global zone, how to set that up? According to the first point: unless you specify a NIC setup (I'll check the other day, it may be enough just to line with nic_tag, even much doubt) you can not use this card inside the virtual machines 3.
