You can't use an IPMP device as a support for VMs. An IPMP device is at the wrong layer. Basically, an IPMP device provides a highly reliable IP address. If you want that inside of a zone, you need to create an IPMP device inside of the zone. An IPMP device can't be the building blocks for a VNIC.
