All,
We have SmartOS running on our HP Microserver Gen8’s for a number of years now
with almost no issues. However, with recent SmartOS builds (20170105T024017Z
and 20161222T003450Z) we are encountering occasional "hangs“ when shutting down
native or LX zones: After „shutdown -g0 -i5 -y“ or „shutdown -h now“ the zones
do not shut down as expected (despite console broadcast messages that the zone
will be halted).
Issuing a „vmadm stop {UUID}“ from the global zone often times only yields
„timed out waiting for zone to transition to installed“.
We observed this mainly on LX zones with SmartOS 20161222T003450Z but have
started to see this on native zones too with SmartOS build 20170105T024017Z. I
cannot recall having seen similar behavior on older platforms (but we barely
used LX zones back then).
/var/log/* did not contain anything that stood out.
Any pointers how to track this issue down?
Best regards,
Peter
