Hi,

We use the same switches (24 port model). We have 2 of these switches to create
an MLAG (aka HP distributed trunking). iPXE is smart enough to handle LACP. It
has a simple LACP implementation in it which allows it to use a single
connection. However I also remember struggling with this too (with Triton).

I realize your not using Triton but vanilla SmartOS but maybe this info helps.
We ended up with:

* Headnode admin and external net connections both use LACP. The headnode is
connected to the admin vlan switch with a static trunk.
* Compute node's only have their external net connections working with LACP.
** All the admin VLAN trunks use "dynamic" LACP in passive mode to allow
unprovisioned compute nodes to connect without having LACP configured. This
should work like the fallback which Robert described except I couldn't get it
working. So in the end I just unplugged the second LACP connection for the
compute nodes. External net hands-off failover is the most important for us and
that works just fine.

Kind regards,

Jasper
