Hi,

I was obviously not clear earlier, but these are KVM instances.

One of my colleagues pointed out the following to me in this reference
(https://wiki.smartos.org/display/DOC/Managing+NICs):

Notes:

* vrrp_primary_ip must be the IP address of one of the other nics in the
system, since this address will be used to send router advertisements.
* No MAC address is necessary for the VRRP nic, since its MAC address
will be based on the router ID
* For the time being, the NIC with the ip matching the vrrp_primary_ip
needs to have allow_ip_spoofing (
<https://github.com/joyent/smartos-live/issues/136> joyent-live Issue 136)
* This does not work with kvm zones

Before trying out too many options, does setting the vrrp properties actually
work with KVMs?

Regards,

Angelo.

fwadm?

Have you set the vrrp_primary_ip and vrrp_vrid properties on the nics that you
want to use with VRRP?

Hi All,

We have a scenario where one of our hosts is set up to create fwadm rules in
order to manage instance-level firewalling.

HOWEVER, we have an issue with a customer who wants to deploy (and manage)
their own HAProxy failover cluster.

We have successfully tested this setup with no issues at all when the SmartOS
host firewall is turned OFF, but we are unable to make this work when the host
firewall is turned ON and administered through fwadm.

Does fwadm/SmartOS host firewall support multicast – specifically, in this
case, to allow for VRRP packets?

Regards,

Angelo.
