I remember another thread complaining about OI unable to boot on Ryzen, and failing with what looks to me like a similar reason, i.e.: the bootloader failing to find a memory place large enough to load the kernel and the boot archive. My guess is that grub and the bsd loader use a similar technique and fail in a similar way. If the bsd loader got fixed, I assume it wouldn't be rocket science to patch grub in the same way.
