After a year quite happy with a SmartOS deployment, I had a machine “unreachable” twice in 20 days. I used the first event to upgrade the SmartOS image to 20170916, and the second event happened with this kernel.
The machine is remote and I don’t have a KVM. In both cases the machine is unreachable and I recovered control with a remote hard reset, probably implemented as a power cycle. Zpool is clean. I wonder if there is a log file somewhere that I could check, similar to “dmesg” but for previous execution. “Syslog” has nothing relevant. This machine has been in production for exactly a year. It could be a hardware issue, I would love to have some log/dump to check.
