1. checkout your specific smartos-live git branch:
git clone https://github.com/joyent/smartos-live --branch
release-20180104
2. merge your own commits
3. modify the configure.smartos:
cd smartos-livecp -v sample.configure.smartos configure.smartossed -i
's/illumos-joyent: master/illumos-joyent: release-20180104/g'
configure.smartossed -i 's/illumos-joyent.git
illumos"/illumos-joyent.git illumos --branch release-20180104"/g'
configure.smartos
4. possibly also for illumos-extra git repository
5. build your custom smartos-live ...
