I guess that "fso = frameworkd"... Without being an expert coder nor having read documentation on it, I would say that screen blanking (as suspension and other stuff) is not frameworkd's business. Instead, this should be managed by X or the window manager. A very similar situation is the two buttons the FreeRunner has: their behavior should be exactly the same as any extra button I have on my ThinkPad X60, which are now managed at the input layer and not anymore by the thinkpad_acpi module.
