The SMF test suite opensourced over the weekend. I'm hoping to get this turned into a project of its own, setting up a code repository. Paving the road for some of the steps for integration of test suite code back into Sun as well as pushing out test suite code.
I expect to see active development in this suite as there are a number of things that can be added to provide coverage, and as well as a number of new features coming that need to be tested. Current major test suite development areas are the tests for the Template Extensions.
